ah, a date. you single people, hush. dates are common for you. you recently married friends, be quiet too. dates are so easy.
my friends with kids-smile with me that i had a date night. a new babysitter, a 3 hour time frame of freedom, a limited budget. we went to play pool, since we love to play games, and i did very well considering. andy wasn't on his game very well so i won....which meant i had to play the next guy in line. so here's me playing pool with the next guy who put his money on the table, and he beat me by one ball. i was pretty proud about that-geometry comes in handy ONLY in pool. he said i was good competition.
we then did our family duty, and did the quick grocery trip to walmart .....together....shock....andy went with me. it was amazing and fun and no little kid screaming for food or attention in the buggy made it fly by.
my heart was relaxed knowing she was at home sleeping peacefully.
today i took the day off. i went to new orleans to shop, relax, and be myself. the day started with a makeover at the MAC counter (fabulous makeup) but i did not like my artist-she did some crazy blue eyeshadow stuff on me that looked hideous but i had to be like, oh yes that is so cool.
i came home with this and this and i was happy. i knew i could do a much better job at home than what she did-but she and i had a great talk about the job, how it works, that she's an "artist", etc. and it was intriguing.
next stop was here for a few funky accessories, and then to shop for some clearance clothes since a) i haven't really shopped since kate was born and b) the clothes i bought then all have stains on them somehow.
so i found some shirts for <$4 and walked away happy. andy and i had our date tonight with my new $14 dollar shirt and i felt great. we had fun, and now he is snoozing and i am not sleepy yet-laundry to do, bills to make sure are paid.
saturdays are our family day-breakfast made by chef andy. always tasty. that was the main reason for our trip to walmart tonight, to make sure we had our sat am ingredients.
then we get good naps on sat, and tomorrow night andy is doing a gig at a friend's birthday party so i will make my way up there, thanks to another babysitter.
today i felt very relaxed, had fun talking to my MAC artist, had a fun date, and i just feel so encouraged.
it's fun to shop-but i won't shop again until probably 2008. so i will relish my 4 dollar treasures and sleep well tonight. and i have a great, loving hubby that let me go shop and supported my choices, and that felt AWESOME.
