Bedtime Banter

Tonight, just now, as I tucked Kate in, she said, "can you close me in bed?" I have no idea what that means except maybe pulling the canopy closed. So I did, tucked her in, night night etc. A few minutes later, I passed by her room, and heard "MAMA!" So I checked in, Kate said "I have to sit right here." She was not on her pillow. She was in the corner of her bed, pulling toys out of her toy net. I said, "Kate, it's time to go to sleep." She said, "No, teddy bear is going to sleep." I looked at her pillow and teddy bear was lying right on the pillow. I think she was trying to fake me out so she could sneak out to hang out with some kids later tonight or something. Then she had her pretend phone. She said, "I need to make a phone call." I said, "Who are you going to call?" She said, "Sam and Katie and Robin." I said, ok. She said, "Hello?" into the phone, and then asked me for some milk. I got the milk, told her to keep the long distance calls to a minimum, and told her to settle herself down to go to sleep. I think this has been going on for a few nights recently. Last night about 20 minutes after tucking her in I heard some maracas shaking from her bed-I think maybe she was having a fiesta but I didn't go in.
